MOVE ON WHEN READING
Looking for some strategies you can use at home to help your child improve their reading skills? Check out the PDF below from Move On When Reading (MOWR).
Parents can engage in activities at home to help their child who have reading difficulties, including students who may have characteristics consistent with dyslexia. Each of the activities requires the parent to practice with their child until the child can do the activity independently. -

Greetings Wicked Strong Mustang Family!
View this message in Spanish>
Our leadership team (Mrs. Randi Fielding—Assistant Principal; Mr. Oscar Duncan—Athletic Director and Dean of Students; and myself, Chris Barnes—Principal) are honored to serve your children and community at Magma Ranch Elementary. We promise to always strive to Do the Right Thing! We are looking forward to meeting all our students and families on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for “Meet the Teacher Night”. Our teachers are elated to meet your child and family! If you would like to have a lengthy conversation or if you have questions or concerns that can’t be addressed in a short amount of time, we are asking that you sign up for a one-on-one conference with their teacher. This will allow you uninterrupted time with them to get your needs addressed. Each teacher will have a sign-up sheet for this in their classroom.
Communication is vital and starts with our staff at Magma Ranch. Our expectations are simple—we expect our teachers to reach out to you with praise, concerns, and information about your child’s learning. It is equally important that our protocol for chain of command be implemented. Any concern you have about your child’s learning should first be brought to the teacher. Please express your concerns first with the teacher to allow for open dialogue and for any adjustments to be made at that time. This protocol provides fairness to all to resolve the concerns. If resolution does not occur, then our leadership team will become involved with all parties to help your child. Our focus is your child. This protocol promotes an open and candid conversation for the well-being of your child.
Our Vision at Magma Ranch is clear: Reading Is A Human Right! When all students can read, their options in life have no ceiling. We are going to be a Reading School. We invite you to our monthly Coffee and Cocoa with the Leadership Team. This is for parents who wish to visit with us and to give an opportunity for you to share your thoughts, experiences, and challenges. We will listen and work to resolve any concerns you bring to us.
We have created a Magma Ranch Creed that we expect everyone at Magma Ranch to LIVE BY:
Serve Others
Take Responsibility
Achieve Your Best
Never Give UP
Gain Respect
Saddle UP!
Learning is a marathon, not a race. There will be struggles just as in life. However, we have positioned Magma Ranch with a fantastic staff that is eager to serve and grow our students’ learning like never before. We need your support, involvement, and presence at our school. Our theme this year is: Better Now! By placing all our focus on reading and helping our children become proficient learners, our children will grow in all ways—Beyond Measure!
Prepare To Be Impressed and Saddle UP!
