Greetings Florence High School Families! This school year marks the beginning of my 15th school year in the Florence Unified School District and my eighth year at Florence High School. I started my career in FUSD first as a student teacher in 2005 at Walker Butte K-8 where I remained teaching for six additional years. I have taught a variety of classes and electives that include yearbook, physical education, and English.
I am a native Arizonan and grew up in the Clifton/Morenci area. I moved to this very hot part of the state in 2002 to further my education at Arizona State University where I attained my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in English and a provisional endorsement in English as a Second Language. I continued my education at ASU where I also attained a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in English as a Second Language. I thought I was finished with my education but my love for learning provoked me to begin the long journey of working on my doctorate degree at University of Phoenix. My doctoral focus was Educational Leadership, and I completed all the coursework for my doctorate degree in 2013.
Aside from education, I love to do anything outdoors, except maybe yard work! I like camping, fishing, going to just about any sporting event, and spending time with my family, closest friends, and most importantly with my husband and daughter.

My name is Tracey Celaya, and I am the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Director for Florence Unified. I have 24 years’ experience in education, 20 of which have been in the Florence District. I started as the business teacher at FHS; hired when we only had Florence High School, Florence Elementary, and Florence Junior High in our District.
At that time, our FHS CTE Department had two programs: Agriculture Science and Business; which I was hired to start. After two years of working as the business teacher, I was asked to become the CTE Director; while still teaching business classes and being the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Adviser. I stopped teaching business classes in 2008, and now exclusively work as the CTE Director.
Since I was originally hired, our District has grown and so has our CTE Department. We now offer numerous and varied CTE programs at Poston Butte, San Tan Foothills, and Florence High School. We also have partnerships with CAVIT (Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology) and Central Arizona College (CAC) where our FUSD students are bused to their campuses to take CTE Programs and even earn dual enrollment college credit with CAC.
My education includes an Associate of Arts for Transfer from Yavapai College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from Northern Arizona University, and a Master’s Degree in Career & Technical Education also from NAU. I have three grown children all who graduated from Florence High School, and five grandchildren; four of which are in Florence District Schools. I have been married for 36 years; marrying my high school sweetheart who also graduated from FHS.
I’m proud of my role in growing FUSD’s CTE Department. It is my goal to keep expanding our Career & Technical Program offerings to include even more students in CTE.
