Mr. Scott Johnson

I am honored to be the principal of Copper Basin K-8. Prior to joining FUSD, I served as a middle school science and social studies teacher, Dean of Students, and assistant principal. This is my seventh year in the Florence Unified School District, where I have worked as an assistant principal at Skyline Ranch K-8 and Circle Cross Ranch Stem Academy.
I believe children have a greater respect for their teachers, their peers, and the lessons presented when they feel safe and sure of what is expected of them. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill the love of learning in our students, as I share my own passion for learning with them.

Mr. David Schneider

My name is David Schneider and I am the Dean of Students and Athletic Director at Copper Basin K-8. I have spent eleven years in education, including five years in the Florence Unified School District and the past two years as a Dust Devil. During my time here I have also had the pleasure of coaching the boys’ basketball team.
I am excited for the opportunity this year to work with all students and staff on our campus. I hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership Principal K-12 from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Education Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University. In addition, I have a Masters in Accounting from Grand Canyon University.
It is my belief that education is about more than a job or a classroom; it is dedication to continuously learning, improving, and bettering oneself and those around them. Every student has the opportunity to find their passion through academics, clubs, and athletics at Copper Basin. If we work together as a community, we can all assist our students in finding their passion to better themselves as they move on to become productive members of society.
My wife and I are both rare natives to Arizona and we have lived in San Tan Valley for the past 12 years. We are both educators in the Florence District and active members of the community. We enjoy time at home with our pets and trips to Northern Arizona to visit both of our families
