The Arizona Department of Education, Arizona Department of Health, and the Governor’s office have recommended that schools remain OPEN for the time being and so Florence Unified School District will resume school as planned on March 23, 2020. We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and taking our direction from local government agencies as well as the Arizona Department of Health Services and the CDC to ensure the safety of all our students, faculty and staff. We encourage parents to continue discussing the importance of handwashing with their children and to ensure that they stay home from school if they are showing symptoms of illness. We thank our entire FUSD community for their help in keeping everyone safe and healthy.
As this situation evolves, we will continue to update our webpage as more information is received. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please refer to the official web page of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

On Monday, our administrative team met to discuss and implement a course of action to address the concerns about the COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Fortunately, our district is on spring break for the next two weeks; which allows our team the time to take proactive steps in ensuring a sanitized learning environment for your students when they return.
- Our team will be cleaning and sanitizing each campus, our transportation department, and offices. They will be utilizing hospital grade cleaning agents along with foggers that will disperse sanitizing spray on all surfaces.
- Each school will be provided an ample supply of cleaning agents, hand sanitizer and hand soap to constantly encourage routine hand hygiene practices throughout the day when students return.
- Posters and other visual reminders will be posted throughout the district as another constant reminder to thoroughly and frequently wash your hands.
- We will update our District’s COVID-19 informational webpage bi-weekly to communicate with our parents and staff.
