Hello Bulldogs! It is my privilege to serve as Skyline Ranch K-8’s Principal. For more than 20 years I’ve worked in Arizona schools helping students and school teams grow and reach new levels of success. I’m grateful to continue that here at Skyline by working together with students, teachers, parents, guardians, and the community.

My work in education began as a classroom volunteer and then as a paraprofessional. After finishing my degree at ASU, I was a junior high special education teacher and department chair for six years with Mesa Public Schools. I then served as an Instructional Coach at a junior high school and later as a Professional Development Specialist at the district level for Mesa. I also worked for the Arizona Department of Education as a coach for various training series in the areas of math curriculum, professional development design, and special education inclusion practices. After completing my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at NAU, I worked for Coolidge Unified School District for three years as an Assistant Principal in San Tan Valley. For four years, I served as an Assistant Principal at San Tan Heights K-8 with Florence Unified School District and enjoyed new opportunities to grow professionally. In 2020, I moved to Skyline Ranch K-8 as Principal and have enjoyed the special community, welcoming spirit, and focus on growth that helps our students thrive.

There are many reasons why we say, “It’s GREAT to be a Bulldog!” When you visit, you will see that Skyline Ranch K-8 is a supportive environment, with great student opportunities, great pride, and great staff members who are ready to foster a thirst for learning in our students every day. I’m honored to be a part of this Bulldog Family and I’m looking forward to many successes ahead!

Hello Skyline Ranch Bulldogs! I am so excited to be returning for my 4th year at Skyline Ranch and working with such amazing students, staff and community members. I am the father of 3 amazing young ladies, Stella 13, Lily 11 and Vivian 9 and enjoy camping and traveling with my family as well as mountain biking, backpacking, trail running and running ultramarathons. I hope to someday run a 100 mile trail race and thru-hike the Arizona Trail.

This is my 21st year in education, and 15th in FUSD. Of those 15 years I have been a teacher and or administrator at Skyline Ranch, Magma Ranch and Copper Basin.  I love being a Bulldog and a part of FUSD. I am passionate about student and staff well-being. This includes social emotional learning, emotional intelligence and self-care. I am Chair of the district Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team and on the district Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) Team. Our  Bulldog SEL Team is bringing a Be-Well Room to Skyline to promote staff self-care and assist students with their emotional needs. I believe that social emotional learning is the foundation to academic growth and overall well-being.

I looking forward to a successful school year! It’s GREAT to be a Bulldog!”

Hugo Hernandez

Hello, I’m Mr. Hernandez your Bulldog Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. This is my 4th year as a Bulldog and loving it. My previous work experiences include six years of service in the Marine Corps and 15 years of law enforcement. I have two beautiful children, Isabela is my 18 year old daughter that attends ASU and Diego my 14 year old son is attending his first year of high school in Chandler and playing football for Hamilton High. I share my life with my beautiful wife Linda and our dog Charlie. Linda and I enjoy working on projects together, doing short weekend trips and of course watching football whenever possible.

This is my 20th year in education and I love every moment of it!  I find it rewarding to be able to guide/mold students that are often misunderstood or need extra attention and be able to engage these students through sports, clubs or simply by getting them excited about learning.

It’s GREAT To Be A Bulldog is more than just a saying, it’s a way of life at Skyline Ranch.  We are grateful for the great teachers, great students and a supportive community.  I feel blessed to be part of the Bulldog family and am looking forward to a great year!

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” -Maya Angelou. I strive to bring this same energy into everything I do. Building relationships and serving our community is my passion and I treat each encounter with compassion, humor, and my own sense of style.

I am excited to return to Skyline this year - it's GREAT to be a Bulldog! Prior to joining the FUSD community, I taught in the Queen Creek and Maricopa districts. My educational leadership journey started in 2016 when I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree from ASU and I will be completing my Master’s program in Educational Leadership, Principal Certification in 2023. In our free time, my family and I enjoy exploring the Arizona wilderness with our 3 dogs, traveling (our next country is New Zealand!), and trying out new recipes on the weekends.

As a partner in your student’s education, I look forward to helping make this year a successful one!

Hello Bulldogs! I’m pleased to begin a new journey as Instructional Coach at Skyline Ranch. It is my 7th year at Skyline and in the Florence Unified School District. I have served as a first grade teacher, Department Chair, and Mentor Teacher over the past several years.

Before completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Northern Arizona University, I had the opportunity to work with students in the Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, and Kyrene school districts from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Those experiences confirmed my love for the elementary setting and ultimately led me to a first grade classroom. My time in first grade has given me the opportunity to share my love of books, wonder about the world, and excitement for learning with kids. Now as an Instructional Coach, I can share my love of learning and teaching with educators.

On campus I am involved with many school committees that strive to provide support to both students and teachers. The Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS), Response To Intervention (RTI), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Guiding Coalition, and AVID teams work diligently to bring together opportunities for growth in academics, interventions, and social emotional skills. I am passionate about the work I do and am excited to make it meaningful to our school community. I am proud to be a Bulldog where we value Growth, Relationships, Engagement, Acceptance, and Tenacity. It’s GREAT to be a Bulldog!
