Hello, my name is Kathy Papworth, my job is Exceptional Students Services Secretary Records /SIS Coordinator. In 2004 I moved to Arizona from California. I grew up in San Francisco and lived in Los Angeles for 10 years before moving here. I started working for FUSD in 2005 at Walker Butte K8 doing yard duty and my California blood couldn’t handle the weather so I got a job in-doors as the ESS secretary and I have been in this position for the last 14 years.
And still love it! I am proud to be a part of the FUSD family.

Miss Sarah Arthur

Hello, my name is Sarah Arthur, my full job title is Exceptional Students Secretary/District Medicaid Coordinator. In 2010 we moved to the Florence Unified School District area of Arizona from Portland, Oregon. I worked as a Medical Assistant and in the corporate world as an Administrative Assistant back in Oregon and as a Kinder-Prep Teacher here in Arizona. I started for FUSD in 2017 as a Learning Lab Paraprofessional and then Registrar at Poston Butte High School. I love the diversity that the school district has a whole with the students, faculty and programs that each individual school in our district offers. I appreciate how our district is a lot like family, we come together and support or rally around each other when something impacts our community.

I like to take random road trips and travel around the state and region with my three daughters. We spend time at the events that the schools and the community offer and like the amazing progress in the area since living here. I am currently attending Grand Canyon University online to obtain my Bachelor’s in Sociology in hopes to become either a school psychologist or a leadership position in the district. I believe that educating our students and community is the best way to have a successful society.

Ms. Jody Shagena

My career began at a residential treatment center for adolescents as a Mental Health Technician. It was there that I knew I wanted to impact youth, specifically those that might have greater challenges in life. From there I began working in the public school system, where I have been for the past 12 years, only making one detour - a short stint working as a Job Coach and Employment Specialist with those that have a serious mental illness. Over the last 12 years I have worked 9 of them as a Para in the Chandler Unified School District in the self contained setting and the last 3 years as a Transition Specialist here in FUSD. I am excited to work as the District’s Social Worker! My goal is to build healthy relationships with families while providing the necessary support that will give our students the best possible outcome in their educational experience.
