Hello Bulldogs! It is my privilege to join Skyline Ranch K-8 as your new Principal. For the past 20 years I’ve worked in Arizona schools helping students and school teams grow and reach new levels of success. I’m eager to continue that here at Skyline by working together with students, teachers, parents, guardians, and the community.

My work in education began as a volunteer and then as a paraprofessional. After finishing my degree at ASU, I was a junior high special education teacher and department chair for six years with Mesa Public Schools. I then served as an Instructional Coach at a junior high school and later as a Professional Development Specialist at the district level for Mesa. I also worked for the Arizona Department of Education as a coach for various training series in the areas of math curriculum, professional development design, and special education inclusion practices. After completing my degree in Educational Leadership at NAU, I worked for Coolidge Unified School District for three years as an Assistant Principal in San Tan Valley. For the past four years, I served as an Assistant Principal at San Tan Heights K-8 with Florence Unified School District and have enjoyed new opportunities to grow professionally.

There are many reasons why we say, “It’s GREAT to be a Bulldog!” When you visit, you will see that Skyline Ranch K-8 is a supportive environment, with great student opportunities, great pride, and great staff members who are ready to foster a thirst for learning in our students every day. I’m very honored to be a part of the Bulldog Family and I’m looking forward to a successful school year!

Mr. James Bock

Hello Skyline Ranch Bulldogs! I am so excited to be returning for my 4th year at Skyline Ranch and working with such amazing students, staff and community members. I am the father of 3 amazing young ladies, Stella 13, Lily 11 and Vivian 9 and enjoy camping and traveling with my family as well as mountain biking, backpacking, trail running and running ultramarathons. I hope to someday run a 100 mile trail race and thru-hike the Arizona Trail.

This is my 21st year in education, and 15th in FUSD. Of those 15 years I have been a teacher and or administrator at Skyline Ranch, Magma Ranch and Copper Basin.  I love being a Bulldog and a part of FUSD. I am passionate about student and staff well-being. This includes social emotional learning, emotional intelligence and self-care. I am Chair of the district Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team and on the district Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) Team. Our  Bulldog SEL Team is bringing a Be-Well Room to Skyline to promote staff self-care and assist students with their emotional needs. I believe that social emotional learning is the foundation to academic growth and overall well-being.

I looking forward to a successful school year! It’s Great to be a Bulldog!”

Mr. Hugo Hernandez

Hello, I’m Mr. Hernandez your Bulldog Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. This is my 4th year as a Bulldog and loving it. My previous work experiences include six years of service in the Marine Corps and 15 years of law enforcement. I have two beautiful children, Isabela is my 18 year old daughter that attends ASU and Diego my 14 year old son is attending his first year of high school in Chandler and playing football for Hamilton High. I share my life with my beautiful wife Linda and our dog Charlie. Linda and I enjoy working on projects together, doing short weekend trips and of course watching football whenever possible.

This is my 20th year in education and I love every moment of it!  I find it rewarding to be able to guide/mold students that are often misunderstood or need extra attention and be able to engage these students through sports, clubs or simply by getting them excited about learning.

It’s Great To Be A Bulldog is more than just a saying, it’s a way of life at Skyline Ranch.  We are grateful for the great teachers, great students and a supportive community.  I feel blessed to be part of the Bulldog family and am looking forward to a great year!

Ms. Cathy McAllister

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself to this amazing community.  I come to Skyline Ranch with 33 years of teaching and administrative experience.  I bring a variety of Professional Development Trainings that include: Ruby Payne's Poverty Training, Collective Efficacy, Classroom Management techniques and How to implement Questioning Skills effectively.  I am honored to have the opportunity to work with teachers through “Real Time” coaching at Skyline Ranch as well as be part of our Administrative Team.

The most effective way to help students strengthen their academic ability is by strengthening those who teach them.  Working as an instructional coach allows me to coach, learn, and strengthen amazing educators that are utilizing effective and research backed  strategies in their classrooms. Florence is one of the few districts that have embraced Instructional Coaching as an important tool to improve student learning, support teachers and prepare students for our 21 century culture.  Together,as the year moves forward, teachers, staff, and administration will work to implement Collective Efficacy techniques. This is the #1 indicator of student success. We will utilize differentiated instruction to ensure that all students succeed, and collaborative team building through our Professional Learning Communities.  The journey in Florence Unified School District has only just begun for me, but I can’t wait to learn all about our district that is being created by Design and that puts All Students First!

Please contact me if you have any questions or if I can assist you.
