Transition to Distance Learning:
FUSD will transition to a virtual learning format beginning on Thursday, January 14th until Friday, January 29th. Students will report to school as scheduled on Wednesday, January 13th. School site administration and your student’s classroom teacher will provide important information as we shift to distance learning
We understand the challenges FUSD families are experiencing during this pandemic, which is why we are here to support you. There are educational resources online as well as numerous Social Emotional resources to assist you and your students during this temporary transition to distance learning. Please utilize them as necessary and do not hesitate to reach out to your school site support personnel for additional information.
Q: How long will students receive virtual instruction?
A: At this time, the Governing Board has approved the transition to Virtual Learning from Thursday, January 14 – through January 29th. A Special Board Meeting will convene on Tuesday, January 26th to review the public health metrics and then decide what the best course of action will be. Parents will be notified of that decision immediately after the meeting.
Q: How will this affect my student who already attends Florence Virtual Academy?
A: This decision will not effect students who are currently enrolled in FVA. Students will remain with their homeschool sites and be instructed virtually by their classroom teachers online for the duration of the virtual learning time period.
Q: How will this affect my student who has special needs or is considered “at-risk”?
A: Support services will continue and be available for special need students in compliance with state mandated laws, statutes and regulations. For more information visit our District Website
