Sex Ed Curriculum Adoption Information and Timeline

Based on the review and evaluation of the FUSD Sex Ed Advisory Council, the curriculum Love Notes will be proposed to the Florence Unified School District Governing Board for consideration and adoption. 

Parents and community stakeholders will have digital access to review the curriculum beginning Friday, April 29, 2022.  The curriculum may also be reviewed in person at the Florence Unified School District Office located at 1000 S. Main Street, Florence, AZ  85132. Please call 520-866-3500 to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the District Office.

Parents and community stakeholders will have the ability to submit comments via a Google form.  The form will be accessible to the public until 24 hours prior to the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 17th

In addition, according to governing school board policy, BEDH-E “Public Participation at Board Meetings”, oral comments by the public may be requested in person at either of the two (2) Special Board Meetings.  Parents and/or community stakeholders must complete and submit the gold-colored “Request to Address the Board” form by 5:50 P.M. prior to the meeting.  Public comments will be limited to three (3) minutes and may only address the board once.  The form will be located on a designated table in the Poston Butte H.S. library. 



CURRICULUM REVIEW: LOVE NOTES 3.0

Unplanned pregnancy, single parenting, and troubled relationships are a serious threat to the well-being and futures of many young people and their children. Love Notes 3.0 was created for this vulnerable, high-risk audience and is geared toward older teens and young adults. It has been demonstrated successful with youth experiencing poverty and youth of color.

Through Love Notes’ 13 lessons, participants discover, often for the first time, how to make wise choices about partners, sex, relationships, pregnancy, and more.
